Family Festival
11th September 11am-5pm, Hackney Marshes
This year’s Family Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever - and it’s FREE!
NB. This page currently shows the details of the 2009 festival.
The Festival starts with fun activities for kids at 10.30am, organised by Albion Kids Show, who will provide stimulating play opportunities for children of all abilities - be ready to sail on the ship!
This year there is a special emphasis on making sure the activities are inclusive - so turn up on the day for our Fun Run, which is suitable for those with disabilities (no wheelchairs, sorry), small children and older people.
And after you cross the finish line, make sure you refill your energy with the delicious food prepared by Hackney Community College and their students - then sit back and and chill out with some music, dancing and cheerleading with Calthorpe Allstars Cheerleaders Cheerleaders, who compete at an international level and came Second in Senior co-ed in Future Cheer International in Brighton 2009!
We'll start at 11.00 with Shkembe Soup, a gypsy cabaret band who plays pop, rock and folk tunes, and define themselves as "visually spectacular musicians and performers", with lovely dancers to kick off the festival in a colorful way!
After them, a variety of artists follow with their unique style - but don't worry, the stage is well far from the kids' playground, so you can actually hear your kids playing, although their only screams will come from pure entertainment!
And be ready for some great bands who will appeal to music lovers of all kinds - check out for Mas Trew, a young singer with a wonderful voice that will blow your mind!
Summer Holiday will keep you entertained with drums, violins, saxophones and trombones;
White Collar Weapons, with their soul, folk and rockabilly style;
Abraham and the Brothers Wild, a lively band with tambourines; and
London City Soldiers who will entertain you with their hip-hop beats.

For a pre-event feel, this is what we did at last year's event.
Three2go Race and Family Festival is a great day out for family, relatives and friends - but keep an eye on your little ones!
The Lost Children's Point is located just opposite the finish line, between the stage and the ambulance point, so that our commentator can way announce it in an efficient and audible way.
Look forward to see you there!
