What Do We Do?
We at Two2Go are committed to hosting quality sporting events for all ages and fitness levels as a count down to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
We rely heavily on the skills and expertise of a large number of volunteers who have supported the 2Go series right from the very first event, Five2Go, four years ago. With their generosity, it has become possible to expand our event year on year, with 2010 seeing the first Get Ready2Go launch event taking place on July 24th as an introduction to the 2Go event series and offering locals the chance to get involved in local sporting activities and teams, as well as in the mainTwo2Go event on September 11th.
We are planning at least six events every year, in an increasingly wide range of sport and exercise. The aim is to offer sporting goals for all with
· A measurable change to a healthier lifestyle
· Opportunities for team work, whether in relay teams, corporate teams or family participation
· The potential to develop mentoring opportunities
Our mentoring through sp4rot programmes is being developed by Kylie Forge, based on our successful funding applocat8ion to the association of `101 Black Women`. We aim to use sport 5
to create opportunities for mentoring, with a small pilot scheme in September 2010.We are particularly interested n creating opportunities for girls who feel more marginalised in sporting activities
The 2Go series of events has drawn support from many individuals, charities and organisations through the years, including the Mayor for London Boris Johnson, and his commissioner Kate Hoey who is quoted as saying that "the 2go annual races are a great way for Londoners to get fitter, and for families and older people, to get involved in sport."
Other notable supporters include GLL, UK Athletics, Lee Valley Park, British Waterways Board, Hackney and Newham Councils, London NHS (Go London, Change4life and Think Feet First projects), Age UK (was Age Concern), The Adolescent and Childrens Trust (TACT), Leyton Orient Football Club, Cooltan Arts, CaniX UK, Parkrun, Hackney Community College, British Triathalon and the Serpentine Running Club.
We are involving all London boroughs surrounding and affected by the Olympic Park. Hackney and Newham borough councils are both actively involved in supporting Two2Go.
